The Problem with Mark Wahlberg
Mark Wahlberg is versatile actor. He can play any role given to him. Or so the audiences that eat out of the palm of his had would say so. Wahlberg is the same person in different roles, and follows the same tough guy role. He is the man of few words and lets his actions do the talking. But he doesn't do it well. There are actors who play the same part well, like Robert Duvall, but Wahlberg is not one of them. In the movie Invincible, his character of the quiet, tortured soul follows a cheesy and cliche story. He tries to hard to keep a stand-offish approach to his character that one loses intrest And his acting did not accurately portray the anger he should have felt after his wife left him. In We Own the Night, he keeps the same face the entire movie. It is like his brow is only plastic and can only stay in the pissed off state. He shows no emotion other than anger in this and all his movies. And when he does, he doesn't sell it well. In The Departed, he tries throwing the Boston anger in your face and it completely takes you out of the movie. In all of his movies he seems to interrupt the flow of the story. I guess you should have stuck to rapping Marky Mark.
